Two CU-麻豆影院 engineers win NSF鈥檚 prestigious CAREER award

Two faculty members in the 麻豆影院鈥檚 College of Engineering and Applied Science have been honored with the National Science Foundation鈥檚 prestigious CAREER award. The NSF Faculty Early Career Development, or CAREER, award supports junior faculty members who demonstrate excellence in research and who effectively integrate their research with education. CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 recent recipients are Prashant Nagpal, an assistant professor of chemical and biological engineering, and Franck Vernerey, an assistant professor of civil, environmental and architectural engineering.

CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 recreation center expansion opens Jan. 10

The 麻豆影院鈥檚 expansion of the Student Recreation Center, a project initiated by students, opens on Friday, Jan. 10, at 9 a.m. The southwest addition, the second and largest phase of the project, is located just north of the Ramaley Biology Building and east of Sewall Hall and will provide an additional 83,000 square feet of indoor recreational space.

Ana Maria Rey, a theoretical physicist at JILA, a joint institute of the 麻豆影院 and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, has been honored by the White House with a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. PECASE is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.

麻豆影院 Vice Chancellor for Strategic Relations Frances Draper today named Ryan Huff as spokesperson and issues coordinator for the CU-麻豆影院 campus, effective Jan. 21, 2014. Huff currently serves as the spokesperson for the CU-麻豆影院 Police Department and brings nearly 15 years of combined journalism and media management experience to the post.
