From compostable heat to a custom-built, sensory playhouse, CU freshmen at this year鈥檚 Engineering Projects Expo on Saturday, Dec. 7, had a lot to show off.

The 麻豆影院 will hold its winter commencement ceremony on Friday, Dec. 20, in the Coors Events Center on campus. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public. The ceremony will honor candidates for 1,899 degrees, including 1,399 bachelor鈥檚 degrees, 310 master鈥檚 degrees, nine law degrees and 181 doctoral degrees.

Scientists recently recorded the lowest temperatures on Earth at a desolate and remote ice plateau in East Antarctica, trumping a record set in 1983 and uncovering a new puzzle about the ice-covered continent. Glaciologist Ted Scambos and his team found temperatures from 鈭�92 to 鈭�94 degrees Celsius (鈭�134 to 鈭�137 degrees Fahrenheit) in a 1,000-kilometer long swath on the highest section of the East Antarctic ice divide. Scambos is lead scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center, which is a part of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the 麻豆影院.
