CU-麻豆影院 offers well users guide for testing water in areas of oil and gas development

A free, downloadable guide for individuals who want to collect baseline data on their well water quality and monitor their groundwater quantity over time was released this week by the 麻豆影院鈥檚 Colorado Water and Energy Research Center (CWERC).

Three CU-麻豆影院 students win coveted Goldwater scholarships

Three 麻豆影院 undergraduates have been awarded prestigious Goldwater Scholarships for 2014. The scholarships, which are worth up to $7,500 each, are awarded annually to sophomores and juniors across the nation on the basis of high academic merit. The 2014 winners from CU-麻豆影院 are Jasmine Brewer, a junior in engineering physics, Brennan Coffey, a junior in chemical engineering and applied mathematics, and Ryan Dewey, a junior in astrophysics and physics.

CU-麻豆影院 announces new College of Music dean

麻豆影院 Provost Russell L. Moore today announced the appointment of a new dean for the College of Music. The new dean will be Robert Shay, director of the School of Music at the University of Missouri in Columbia. His appointment will begin Sept. 1.

Open Access meetings

Over the past few years, various groups on this campus have discussed the development of an open access policy that could be adopted by CU-麻豆影院 faculty. Groups involved with these discussions have included Faculty Affairs, the University Libraries, CU Student Government (CUSG), the United Government of Graduate Students (UGGS), and the 麻豆影院 Faculty Assembly (BFA).

Jon Huntsman to speak at CU-麻豆影院 April 15

Jon Huntsman, former U.S. ambassador to China and governor of Utah, will be speak on Tuesday, April 15, at CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 Macky Auditorium Concert Hall. Doors for the talk, which is the third and final spring event hosted by CU's Distinguished Speakers Board , will open at 6:45 p.m., and Huntsman will begin his speech at 7:30 p.m.

CU-麻豆影院 prepares for flood season, will test campus text-messaging system on April 3

The 麻豆影院 will test the CU-麻豆影院 Alerts system on Thursday, April 3, to raise awareness of how the campus community will be notified in case of an emergency. The test will include text messages, emails, social media and website announcements. Annual testing of emergency notification systems is required by the Clery Act, a federal law.

Earlier this semester, CU-麻豆影院 Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano announced that the campus would be closed to unauthorized visitors for the third consecutive year on April 20. This closure from 12 to 6 p.m. is necessary to avoid serious disruptions to the university鈥檚 academic mission of research, teaching and learning.

Kathleen Sebelius to give keynote at CU鈥檚 Conference on World Affairs

Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will deliver the keynote address at the 麻豆影院鈥檚 annual Conference on World Affairs to be held April 7-11. Sebelius鈥 address, 鈥淭he Globalization of Health,鈥 will be presented on Monday, April 7, at 11:30 a.m. in Macky Auditorium. All of the conference鈥檚 200 panel discussions, performances and plenaries are free and open to the public.
