Tremendous growth in enrollments and a changing economic, technological and reputational landscape have prompted the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the 麻豆影院 to set two ambitious new goals for the year 2020. Improvements in the college鈥檚 鈥淏est Graduate Schools鈥 rankings, released in mid-March by U.S. News & World Report, indicate good progress in the right direction.

New report summarizes climate considerations on Navajo Nation lands

A new report led by the 麻豆影院, 鈥淐onsiderations for Climate Change and Variability Adaptation on the Navajo Nation,鈥 synthesizes state-of-the-science information on the region鈥檚 climate, water cycle and ecology. And it goes much further, discussing social, legal, economic, infrastructural and other factors that affect people鈥檚 vulnerabilities to climate impacts as well as their adaptive capacity, and outlining one approach for how the region鈥檚 residents might plan for ongoing environmental change.

A team of 麻豆影院 graduate students has qualified for the final round of an international venture capital competition April 10-12 thanks in part to what it dubs its secret sauce: the local startup community.

Thank you for your positive response to the initial email regarding our campuswide competition to get the most employees 鈥 who are the primary member of a CU Health Plan 鈥 to complete the SUCCEED Health Assessment. Currently, we are in third place with just under 10% of our employees completing the assessment. If you remember, our campus goal is to reach 30% participation. Your student government: CUSG addresses '4/20 event' shutdown for 2014

By the University of Colorado Student Government Since April 2012, the University of Colorado has taken decisive and deliberate actions to enforce a complete shutdown of the highly attended 4/20 event and protest that convened on the CU-麻豆影院 campus over the past generations. The administration has cited the disruption the gathering causes to the academic mission, safety concerns for students, faculty, staff and visitors, and health issues for members of the campus community as primary motivations for the campus closure, and three years later continue to lock down Norlin field for the duration of the event. We agree that the CU Administration is founded in their that belief that the 4/20 event, focused on the active consumption of marijuana, has no place on our campus due strictly to the inherent safety concerns and academic disruption the massive gathering causes.

Stubbs named director of institutional research

Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget, Finance and Enrollment Services Steve McNally named Robert Stubbs as director of institutional research, effective March 1, 2014. Stubbs is succeeding Lou McClelland, a 30-year veteran director of institutional research in the Office of Planning, Budget and Analysis, who retired as director last summer.

CU鈥檚 Conference on World Affairs announces online viewing of sessions

The Conference on World Affairs at the 麻豆影院 will livestream selected sessions online April 7-11 and also will make them available for viewing on-demand once the event has concluded. CWA will livestream sessions in Macky Auditorium and in the University Memorial Center鈥檚 central Glenn Miller Ballroom. The sessions will remain available for viewing through Friday, April 18.

Spring has arrived in Colorado. It is a time of renewal and a time to look forward to the new beginnings that are always anticipated at the end of winter. It is also a time of hectic schedules. It is the final stretch of the year. Finals are around the corner and then summer break. And then what? And then we start planning to begin all over again in August. It is the next step in the academic circle of life. We are always looking ahead to the next milestone on the calendar whether it is for classroom planning or grant writing. Lunar mission involving CU-麻豆影院 finally coming to an end on April 21

A NASA spacecraft studying the moon鈥檚 atmosphere and dust environment, which is carrying a $6 million 麻豆影院 instrument, is slated to crash into the lunar surface April 21 following a successful 130-day mission.
