Jon Huntsman, former U.S. ambassador to China and governor of Utah, will be speak on Tuesday, April 15, at CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 Macky Auditorium Concert Hall. Doors for the talk, which is the third and final spring event hosted by CU's , will open at 6:45 p.m., and Huntsman will begin his speech at 7:30 p.m.

Huntsman will give a speech entitled, 鈥淐hina: Opportunities and Challenges." Using his years of experience working closely with American business owners to facilitate commerce in the growing Asian market, Huntsman outlines ways to bring jobs and capital back to America, engage China from a position of strength and level the economic playing field in order to protect the U.S. economy.

Tickets for the event听are $2 for CU-麻豆影院 students with a valid student ID and $12 for community members. Student tickets can be purchased from the Distinguished Speakers Board table on the first floor of the University Memorial Center, weekdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Community tickets can be purchased at . Huntsman鈥檚 public service career began as a White House staff assistant to President Ronald Reagan, and includes appointments as deputy assistant secretary of commerce for Asia, U.S. ambassador to Singapore and deputy U.S. trade representative. As a U.S. trade ambassador, Huntsman negotiated dozens of free trade agreements, investment framework agreements, and other bi-lateral and multi-lateral trade agreements for the United States. Prior to serving as ambassador to China, Huntsman was twice elected governor of Utah, including in 2008 with a record percentage of the vote and a majority in all 29 counties.
