Lucien Castaing-Taylor, a professor of anthropology at Harvard University who previously taught at CU-麻豆影院, will present and discuss his award-winning documentary 鈥淟eviathan鈥� on Thursday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in room E-50 of the Muenzinger building. 鈥ㄢ�� Academy Award winner Alex Gibney will screen his 2013 documentary 鈥淲e Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks鈥� on Monday, May 5, at 7 p.m. in room 102 of the ATLAS building. Both screenings are free and open to the public.

CU system news release DENVER 鈥� Three faculty members from across the University of Colorado system have been named 2014 President鈥檚 Teaching Scholars, each recognized as an educator who skillfully integrates teaching and research at an exceptional level. The title of President鈥檚 Teaching Scholar signifies CU鈥檚 highest recognition of excellence in and commitment to learning and teaching, as well as active, substantial contributions to scholarly work. CU President Bruce D. Benson solicits annual nominations of faculty for the designation, which is a lifetime appointment.

Continued employment expansion in Colorado in the first half of 2014 is signaled in a quarterly report released today by Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler and prepared by the 麻豆影院 Leeds School of Business. 鈥淐oloradans continue to persevere and show their can-do spirit by pursuing the American dream,鈥� said Gessler. 鈥淎s these business leaders create jobs, hopefully our employment continues to tick upwards.鈥�

CU-麻豆影院 Chancellor Phil DiStefano will host his annual Spring Town Hall Update at the Glenn Miller Ballroom on Tuesday April 22 at 1 p.m. The campus community is cordially invited to attend, or watch the event via livestream . At the town hall, the chancellor will update the campus on progress toward the strategic goals he outlined in last October鈥檚 State of the Campus speech: improving student success including increasing retention and improving the campus鈥檚 graduation rate; developing sources of revenue for the campus beyond tuition and effectively maintaining and advancing CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 reputation as a comprehensive national research university .

Jordan Burns, a 麻豆影院 junior majoring in civil engineering, has won a prestigious Truman Scholarship, an honor that brings with it up to $30,000 for graduate study. Burns, who is from Colorado Springs, is CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 ninth recipient of the scholarship and first since 2006.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is pleased to announce that Professor Peter Molnar of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences and the Department of Geological Sciences has been selected as the 2014 Distinguished Research Lecturer.
