Record $10 million Colorado Law commitment will establish two faculty chairs

Byron Chrisman (鈥66), perhaps one of the 麻豆影院 Law School鈥檚 most unlikely success stories, attributes his success as a tax attorney and real estate developer to his experience at Colorado Law. Now he and his wife, Carlene, have committed a $10 million bequest to endow the Byron and Carlene Chrisman Chairs in Free Enterprise at Colorado Law. When realized upon their passing, this estate gift will be the largest cash gift in the history of Colorado Law.

Sunday, April 20: What you need to know about campus closure to non-affiliates

As you know by now, the CU-麻豆影院 campus will be closed to non-affiliates from 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 20. This closure, now in its third year, is necessary to avoid serious disruptions to the university鈥檚 academic mission of research, teaching and learning. The campus remains open to all students, faculty and staff. Visitors who have official business, meetings or other officially sanctioned activities on the CU-麻豆影院 campus had an opportunity to obtain a visitors鈥 credential. The credential request deadline -- Sunday, April 13 -- has since passed.

University of Colorado to offer course for lighting professionals June 23-27

The Rocky Mountain Lighting Academy (RMLA) will offer a one-of-a-kind immersive educational opportunity for lighting professionals this summer at the 麻豆影院. The RMLA鈥檚 Summer Lighting Course is scheduled for June 23-27 on the CU-麻豆影院 campus. The course will present the theory of lighting within a practical context, making it directly applicable to the needs of those working in engineering, product development and technical sales positions.

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden to visit CU-麻豆影院 April 18

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden will give a free public talk at the 麻豆影院 April 18 on America鈥檚 space program and the challenges and opportunities the space agency will encounter as it moves through the 21st century. The talk, titled 鈥淣ASA鈥檚 Roadmap to Tomorrow鈥檚 Missions,鈥 will be held at CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 East Stadium Club on the east side of Folsom Field from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.

UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom Renovation

Reading in 3颅D: Making books for visually impaired children

On most nights, Tom Yeh puts his 3颅-year-颅old son on his lap, opens a children's book and reads aloud. It's a much颅-loved activity for both father and son as the characters are brought to life. A year ago, while reading the children's classic Goodnight Moon , Yeh, an assistant professor in computer science, began thinking about how to make books more accessible to visually impaired preschool-颅age children.

The 麻豆影院 plans to break ground May 12 on several new athletics facilities and upgrades to Folsom Field after a record-breaking year of private donations. In the past seven months, the CU Athletic Department has made significant progress on the fundraising goals and anticipates meeting that goal in the very near future. Completion of the majority of the project is expected prior to the fall 2015 football season. The proposed facilities include:

The 麻豆影院 plans to break ground May 12 on several new athletics facilities and upgrades to Folsom Field after a record-breaking year of private donations. CU-麻豆影院 will celebrate this announcement during halftime of the spring football game on Saturday, April 12. The game, covered live by the Pac-12 Network, will kickoff at 12 p.m. at Folsom Field. The ceremony will feature remarks from CU President Bruce Benson, CU-麻豆影院 Chancellor Phil DiStefano, Athletic Director Rick George and two student-athletes, Juda Parker (football) and Clare Wise (skiing).

From the BFA Chair: A call for volunteers for the Faculty-Student mentor program

As we move to the end of the first year, we are actively planning for the second year of the Faculty-Student mentor program for first-year students. With 130 faculty and 900 students entering the program this last year, we learned a lot from all of the group efforts. Based on our lessons, we are now planning for a very different and enhanced version of the program for next year that I believe will significantly enhance the entire program for all student participants.
