A California walking stick insect that has evolved to produce individuals with two distinct appearances鈥攁n all-green form that camouflages well with broader leaves and a form with a white stripe running down its back that blends better with needle-like leaves鈥攃an markedly affect its broader ecological community when the appearance of the bug is mismatched with the plant it鈥檚 living on. The new findings, based on research carried out at the 麻豆影院, illustrate the ability of rapid evolution to cause a cascade of ecological impacts.

The University of Colorado Faculty Council, working through the Committee on LGBTQ Affairs, is sponsoring the second annual one-day symposium on the Auraria Campus (St. Cajetans) on Oct. 25, 2013, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The symposium, Creating Equity for the LGBTQ Community in Higher Education: Teaching and Learning for the 21st Century, provides a forum for faculty, staff and students at all the University of Colorado campuses to exchange ideas and learn new strategies for being LGBTQ inclusive in the classroom and throughout the university.
