Alumni Association to honor CU-麻豆影院 visionaries

Since 1930 the 麻豆影院鈥檚 best have been recognized at a special awards ceremony dedicated to highlighting their outstanding accomplishments and extraordinary service. This year the CU-麻豆影院 Alumni Association will recognize 10 of the university鈥檚 finest alumni, faculty, staff and students at the 84th Alumni Awards Ceremony during the university鈥檚 Back to 麻豆影院 Homecoming Weekend. The event, one of the longest-standing traditions at CU-麻豆影院, will take place at the historic Hotel 麻豆影院ado Thursday, Oct. 24.

Leading a class of leaders, Col. Stephen Dinauer takes on directorship of PLC

Retired Col. Stephen Dinauer, the former commanding officer of CU-麻豆影院's Naval ROTC program and now interim director of the Presidents Leadership Class, or PLC, believes that leadership transpires when people understand each other. 鈥淟eadership,鈥 Dinauer said, 鈥渋s a people business.鈥

Your student government: CUSG fall 2013 candidate debates Oct. 23

CUSG will host the Fall 2013 Candidate Debates next Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 7-9 p.m. in the VAC Auditorium. All Representative-at-Large and Arts and Sciences Student Government hopefuls will be given a platform to speak out about their concerns, answer questions and provide students with their plans of action and proposals to best serve the CU student body.

Battle of the Bands to feature headliner and seven student bands on Oct. 18

The University Memorial Center Student Involvement Office, Dennis Small Culture Center, and Program Council will host a Battle of the Bands on Friday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom. This event is free for all students and will feature the top bands at CU-麻豆影院. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

From a basement office in the UMC, Radio 1190 broadcasts an unpredictable and mind-boggling variety of music -- indie punk, ska, and techno one hour, R&B, metal and noise the next. The station is a collective endeavor that allows students to get on the air and share their love of music.

2013 State of the Campus sets new goals, highlights progress

Chancellor DiStefano鈥檚 2013 State of the Campus address was delivered on Tuesday, Oct. 15 to a packed house in the University Memorial Center鈥檚 Glenn Miller Ballroom. The address provided updates on several campus initiatives, reflecting progress towards Flagship 2030 goals as well as continued innovation in the face of new funding realities. The Chancellor called upon the CU-麻豆影院 community to imagine and support innovations in how we serve students, identify new sources of funding, and find ways to build our reputation in Colorado and around the world. He also outlined an ambitious goal of increasing our campus鈥 six-year graduation rate to 80 percent from our current rate of 68 percent.

From the Provost, BFA: CU-麻豆影院's recovery from the floods - we鈥檙e not done yet

It鈥檚 been more than a month since we endured the historic rains of September 2013 and the campus and local community response to the floods has been nothing short of extraordinary. The efforts of first responders, local citizenry, and CU-麻豆影院 students, faculty and staff have been and continue to be instrumental to our recovery. Through our concerted efforts, the road to recovery has been truly remarkable. Today as one walks across our campus on a sunny fall day, the pace of the fall semester appears to be back to normal and all seems to be in order. Unfortunately, the appearance of normalcy on campus belies the fact that there are students, staff, and faculty who still struggle to recover from the effects of the flood. CU-麻豆影院 Disaster Recovery Fund continues to accept faculty and staff applications

$500-per-household cash cards are available to assist current faculty and employees who were either temporarily or permanently displaced from their homes. The cash cards are made possible through donations to the CU-麻豆影院 Disaster Recovery Fund . The online application form for the funding is accessible through the campus鈥 2013 flood resources website .

Buffs Coach Elliott announces inaugural CU Lacrosse schedule

The inaugural University of Colorado lacrosse spring schedule includes eight home matches and nine conference bouts, head coach Ann Elliott announced Tuesday. The Buffs open home play on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 against Regis. 鈥淎fter being on the road for three games it will be exciting to finally be able to play at home,鈥 Elliott said. 鈥淭his will mark the first ever women鈥檚 Division I lacrosse game at CU and we are very excited to be able to play at home with the support of the community and our fans.鈥
