CU-麻豆影院 earns high marks from U.S. News & World Report

University of Colorado campuses and undergraduate programs historically earn high marks on U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 annual Best Colleges lists, and the 2015 edition -- released today -- again shows national and regional recognition of CU鈥檚 sustained excellence. The 麻豆影院 is No. 38 among top Public National Universities. CU-麻豆影院 is 88th among all public, private and for-profit universities in the country. No other university in the state rates higher on the list than CU-麻豆影院.

鈥淚 remember distinctly having a moment in class where I was thinking that I wish every single supervisor on campus could do this.鈥 Natalie High, Coordinator of Student Employment in the Office of Financial Aid, recounts. As part of a larger effort and several new initiatives to provide greater access to management and leadership development opportunities on campus, the Organizational and Employee Development (OED) team in the Department of Human Resources has spent the past year designing and implementing two new training courses for supervisors on campus, Managing the CU-麻豆影院 Way and the Highly Effective Manager .

鈥淪taff Council Spotlight鈥 is an initiative of the BCSC Awards & Staff Recognition Committee. Today we're chatting with CU-麻豆影院's Lead Arborist for Facilities Operations, Vince Aquino. He started at CU in 1997, and is responsible for all of the trees in the General Fund areas on campus. Over the years, Aquino has found the key to his work is flexibility, and the ability to juggle the demands of safety, appearance and the emotional connection people have to the trees in his care.

Throughout the month of September, several university faculty and staff will be contacted by representatives from Huron Consulting Group to participate in an on-campus interview as part of the university鈥檚 Space Utilization Optimization Initiative. The university has contracted Huron to analyze CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 use of all campus space and to offer recommendations for optimizing its use. The goals of this initiative are to enhance the teaching and learning experience for all students, and to discover ways to achieve greater efficiencies and more creative uses with the space and resources we have.

This summer, three CU-麻豆影院 students embarked on the unique opportunity to travel to the cities of Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town, on a three-week sojourn to research the methods of peace-making and leadership in a post-Apartheid South Africa.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Scalia to speak at CU-麻豆影院 on Oct. 1

U.S. Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonin Scalia will deliver the fourth annual John Paul Stevens Lecture hosted by the Byron R. White Center and the University of Colorado Law School on Wednesday, Oct. 1. The event will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Macky Auditorium on the CU-麻豆影院 campus. A limited number of seats are available to the lecture for the general public at no cost. To register for tickets visit the center鈥檚 website at byronwhitecenter.org .
