With the Glenn Miller Ballroom under construction this fall, CU-Â鶹ӰԺ's annual fall career fair is going to be a little different this year, according to Jon Schlesinger, assistant director for strategic planning and communication with the office of on campus.
This fall, rather than one large career fair, Career Services is going to offer six smaller, more targeted events. The series of events kicks off on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Center for Community in rooms S350 and the Abrams Lounge.
"We have heard from both our employers and students that while there are benefits to larger career fairs, they would like the opportunity to have a more targeted fair," Schlesinger said. "What we did this fall is break it down into six different groupings, by industry and job category, with the goal of creating a more informal environment that allows students to target specific jobs or industries."
The first event topic is "Money, Products and Sales."
"So if you're a student looking for a job that deals with money products and sales, this event is for you," Schlesinger said. "Our goal is to bring companies who are looking to recruit in particular categories. Since this is a new concept for us, we will monitor it and see how it works."Ìý
The events will be smaller and less formal than the career fairs Career Services typically holds. Schlesinger recommends students arrive close to start time because employers will give a brief introduction about what their organizations do and what types of candidates they are seeking.Ìý
