As the saying goes, pictures are worth a thousand words. But do photos capture every nuance of feeling, like one or two lines of poetry can? William DeSena, a CU-麻豆影院 film studies student who spent the spring 2014 semester at sea through CU-麻豆影院's Study Abroad program, found that in poetry he could capture the steps of his journey in a way that retained sensory detail, beyond the still imagery of a photo.

CU-麻豆影院 awarded $412 million for sponsored research in 2013-14

University of Colorado faculty researchers attracted $861.04 million in research awards in the 2013-14 fiscal year, based on preliminary figures. This year鈥檚 figure is bested by just one other in CU history, FY2010, when one-time federal stimulus dollars helped fuel research awards of $884.1 million.

Navy SEAL and best-selling author to speak at CU-麻豆影院 Sept. 10

Marcus Luttrell, a former Navy SEAL and author of The New York Times best-selling book "Lone Survivor," will speak at the 麻豆影院 on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. in Macky Auditorium. Student tickets for the talk, which is sponsored by the Cultural Events Board , are free and will be available in the UMC starting Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Community tickets are $5 and are available now at macky.colorado.edu .

Just as diamonds with perfect symmetry may be unusually brilliant jewels, the quantum world has a symmetrical splendor of high scientific value. Confirming this exotic quantum physics theory, JILA physicists led by theorist Ana Maria Rey and experimentalist Jun Ye have observed the first direct evidence of symmetry in the magnetic properties鈥攐r nuclear 鈥渟pins鈥濃攐f atoms.
