A novel dental restorative material that should make life easier for dental care experts and their patients, which is based on technology developed by a team of Â鶹ӰԺ engineers, was unveiled Oct. 1 by the 3M Company.

Colorado business confidence dips but remains positive to finish year, says CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Leeds School

The confidence of Colorado business leaders continues to be positive heading into the fourth quarter and has moderately increased compared with a year ago, according to the most recent Leeds Business Confidence Index (LBCI) released today by the Â鶹ӰԺ’s Leeds School of Business. It’s not as bullish, however, as it was a quarter ago with slight drops across the board resulting in a current overall reading of 59.5, down from 61.2 heading into the third quarter of 2014.

Campus climate discussions continue Oct. 7

The Â鶹ӰԺ Faculty Assembly, in collaboration with the University of Colorado Student Government and the Office of the Provost, is hosting the second in the series of community discussions on campus climate. The discussion will be hosted in the UMC Gallery from noon-1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, and focus on the issues framing the climate issues on campus.

Stunning variety of microbes in Central Park soils mirrors global microbial diversity

Soil microbes that thrive in the deserts, rainforests, prairies and forests of the world can also be found living beneath New York City’s Central Park, according to a surprising new study led by Colorado State University and the Â鶹ӰԺ. The research team analyzed 596 soil samples collected from across Central Park’s 843 acres and discovered a stunning diversity of below-ground life, most of which had never been documented before.

New campus policy for student employee work hours

Campus utilizes biocontrols against emerald ash borer pest

On Sept. 30, a team of forestry professionals from the Colorado Department of Agriculture, City of Â鶹ӰԺ and CU-Â鶹ӰԺ released parasitic wasps on East Campus. The wasps target and kill emerald ash borer, the highly destructive tree pest that poses a serious threat to urban forests and has been found on campus. The tiny, stingless wasps are not attracted to people or pets.

Engineering GoldShirt Program serves as model for other universities
