The Â鶹ӰԺ has distinguished itself for the commitment of our campus community to civic discourse as a driver of our missions of research, teaching, and service. One of the most important ways to fulfill that commitment is by voting. I urge all CU-Â鶹ӰԺ faculty, staff, students and alumni to exercise your right to vote and to make your voice heard in the upcoming elections.

This September, Provost Russ Moore and Senior Vice Chancellor Kelly Fox shared an update about a campuswide initiative to help the university ensure that it is making the best possible use of its classrooms, offices and all other types of space. Since that time, a project team has been hard at work gathering and analyzing information.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, a partial solar eclipse will grace Colorado skies. If you want to catch a glimpse of it, the Â鶹ӰԺ’s Fiske Planetarium is selling eclipse-safe glasses for viewing and hosting a viewing event on the lawns surrounding the venue.

Oil and natural gas production fields can emit large amounts of air pollutants that affect climate and air quality—but tackling the issue has been difficult because little is known about what aspects of complex production operations leak what kinds of pollutants, and how much. Now a study led by the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) the journal Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics sheds light on just that, pinpointing sources of airborne pollutants.
