Downtown 麻豆影院 businessman鈥檚 gift sparks $2 million CU Opera endowment

Longtime 麻豆影院 resident Paul N. Eklund has made a transformative gift to the opera program at the College of Music at the 麻豆影院 that, combined with additional university commitments, establishes a $2 million endowment for the program, to be renamed the Eklund Family Opera Program in honor of the gift.

Alumni Association to honor nine awardees Oct. 23

Since 1930 the 麻豆影院鈥檚 best have been recognized at a special awards ceremony dedicated to highlighting their outstanding accomplishments and extraordinary service. This year the CU-麻豆影院 Alumni Association will recognize nine of the university鈥檚 finest alumni, faculty, staff and students at the 85th Alumni Awards Ceremony during the university鈥檚 Back to 麻豆影院 Homecoming Weekend. The event, one of the longest-standing traditions at CU-麻豆影院, will take place at the historic Hotel 麻豆影院ado Thursday, Oct. 23.

NASA鈥橲 MAVEN spacecraft watches passing comet and its effects at Mars

NASA鈥檚 newest orbiter at Mars, MAVEN, took precautions to avoid harm from a dust-spewing comet that flew near Mars yesterday and is studying the flyby鈥檚 effects on the Red Planet鈥檚 atmosphere, according to 麻豆影院 Professor Bruce Jakosky, principal investigator on the mission.

CU-麻豆影院 marks 100 years of Homecoming

Not everybody or everything makes it to 100, but the 麻豆影院 Homecoming is about to reach that centennial mark. On Nov. 7, 1914, CU took on Utah to win 33-0 in the first Homecoming featuring an intercollegiate matchup. This year, from Oct. 22 to 25, CU-麻豆影院 will host hundreds of guests at dozens of major events. In addition to the traditional football game and parade, the celebration will include a concert, an alumni lecture series, affinity reunions and college and school gatherings.

CU-麻豆影院 philosophy department to resume graduate admissions for 2015-16 academic year

The 麻豆影院 philosophy department will resume admissions to its graduate program for the 2015-16 academic year. The move follows the enactment of reforms and changes begun last November across 10 major areas to address issues of discrimination, harassment and a combative work culture that previously existed inside the department.
