CUPD news release On Saturday, April 28, the Â鶹ӰԺ will host a National Take-Back Initiative in hopes that pill abuse and theft will be reduced by ridding homes of potentially dangerous expired and unwanted prescription drugs. The Wardenburg Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services and the CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Police Department will host a prescription drug collection site in support of the National Take-Back Initiative for prescription drugs.

The University of Colorado Technology Transfer Office, or TTO, pursues, protects, packages and licenses to business the intellectual property generated from research at CU. The TTO provides assistance to faculty, staff and students, as well as to businesses looking to license or invest in CU technology.

The Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building is a 336,800-square-foot research and teaching facility at the Â鶹ӰԺ. The building is located at 3415 Colorado Ave. on CU-Â鶹ӰԺ’s East Campus and was designed to facilitate collaborations between scientists and students from multiple disciplines to address critical challenges in the biosciences through collaborative research and teaching.

Two Â鶹ӰԺ undergraduate student teams have been named among the 10 top winners from a field of 3,697 teams that entered the international Mathematical Contest in Modeling. Results of the 2012 contest were announced this month by the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications. The contest took place at the students’ home institutions Feb. 9-13.

Student-built devices ranging from innovative new products to adaptive technology for people with disabilities will be among more than 60 student inventions showcased at the Â鶹ӰԺ’s Engineering Design Expo on Saturday, April 28. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory on Regent Drive south of Colorado Avenue. Projects will be exhibited both indoors and outdoors on the Herbst Plaza.

A revolutionary research and teaching facility opening at the Â鶹ӰԺ will facilitate work on a wide swath of pressing societal challenges ranging from biomedical issues like cancer, heart disease and tissue engineering to the development of new biofuels.

On Tuesday, April 24, President Obama will visit the Â鶹ӰԺ to deliver remarks as he launches an effort to get Congress to prevent interest rates on student loans from doubling in July. The president will be speaking in the Coors Events Center at approximately 6:00 p.m. The event is free and, while focused on students, is also open to faculty, staff and members of the general public. All persons, including children of any age, must have a ticket for admission into the event.

The Â鶹ӰԺ may restrict non-affiliates from entering the campus on April 20, a Â鶹ӰԺ District Court judge ruled today. Judge Andrew Macdonald upheld CU’s plans to restrict entry to the Â鶹ӰԺ campus and to the Norlin Quad area.
