On Tuesday, April 24, President Obama will visit听the 麻豆影院听to deliver听remarks听as he launches an effort to get Congress to prevent interest rates on student loans from doubling in July.听The president will be speaking in the Coors Events Center at approximately 6:00 p.m.听The event is free and, while focused on students, is also open to faculty, staff and members of the general public. All persons, including children of any age, must have a ticket for admission into the event.
Event information
--No overnight camping will be allowed on campus at any time leading up to this event. Admission to the event is General Entry.
听
--To enter the听听on Tuesday, students, faculty, staff and the general public will need to present their signed ticket and valid ID (Buff OneCard ID for students, faculty and staff, and a valid ID for the general public).
听
--Entry to the event on Tuesday will begin at 3:30 p.m. and听ticket holders should be in line by 4:30 p.m. at the latest听to go through security screening. Do not delay getting into line, as having a ticket does not guarantee entry if you arrive late.听
听
--Don鈥檛 forget to hydrate! It鈥檚 a warm day at altitude 鈥� make sure to keep drinking water. Water stations are available for the line and in the facility.
听
--If you are originating from on campus, please walk to the south entrances of the Coors Events Center. The line to the venue will loop through the Kittredge Complex.听
听
--If you are taking the shuttle in from Research Park on East Campus, you will be dropped off next to the Wolf Law Building on Baseline Road. Please go to the southeast entrance of Coors Events Center. The line will be coming down Kittredge Loop toward the Law School. You can download a map with parking and shuttle information from the PTS听website.
听
--No backpacks will be allowed in the venue (small bags no greater than 12鈥� x 12鈥� will be permitted but subject to search).
听
--Containers of any kind, bottles, cans, guns, knives, pocket-knives, multi-tools, mace, pepper spray, or sharp objects of any kind, other weapons or other hazardous items are prohibited.

Parking
University permit holders:听In preparation for the event,听several parking lots in and around Coors Events Center are required to be vacated by 7 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012. Full details of lot closures and traffic and transportation impacts can be found at the Parking & Transportation Services听website.
Visitor parking: Free visitor parking for the President鈥檚 speech will be available in parking areas located off Discovery Drive at the CU Research Park. Signs and event parking staff will be in place to direct guests to visitor parking.
Free shuttle buses will run a continuous loop, with departures approximately every seven minutes, between the CU Research Park parking lots and the Baseline & Basemar Plaza bus stop on Main Campus. The shuttle buses will operate from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 pm. All Shuttle buses are ADA compliant, and additional ADA transportation and assistance will be available on the Main Campus.听

Campus closures and detours
-- Regent Drive will be closed to through traffic beginning at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday between the entrance to parking lot 430 (south of the business field) and the HAWK signal (just north of Regent AutoPark). The lanes to the north of the Regent AutoPark structure will be closed to exiting traffic between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. All exiting traffic during this period is prohibited. All daytime traffic requiring access to Regent Drive north of the HAWK signal may do so via Colorado Avenue. All traffic requiring access to Regent Drive south of the entrance to parking lot 430 may do so via Broadway.
听
-- On Tuesday, all RTD and CU Buff Buses will be detoured down Colorado Avenue and 18th Street. All stops along Regent Drive will be inactive on this day. Between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. all RTD, HOP and CU Buff Bus routes will be prohibited from entering campus. The Buff Bus will not run during the closure. -- Several buildings around the CEC will have limited access to south and east entryways facing Regent Drive, beginning at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday. These include: Chemical Engineering, ITLL, Computer Science and Koelbel Business. Please be cognizant of building proctor emails and posted signage.

-- Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be diverted around the CEC, beginning after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pedestrians and bicycles should travel around the perimeter of the campus.
听
-- Pedestrian access near the Police and Parking Services and Environmental Health and Safety Center buildings will be limited on Tuesday afternoon. The Parking and Transportation Services business office and the police department records window will close to the public at 12:00 p.m. The Environmental Health and Safety Center will close at 1:00 p.m. Essential personnel will be relocated on campus during normal business hours and may be reached by calling 303-492-6025.
