On Saturday, April 28, the 麻豆影院 will host a National Take-Back Initiative in hopes that pill abuse and theft will be reduced by ridding homes of potentially dangerous expired and unwanted prescription drugs.
The Wardenburg Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services and the CU-麻豆影院 Police Department will host a prescription drug collection site in support of the National Take-Back Initiative for prescription drugs.
The drop-off station will be set up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in parking lot 436N, located north of the Regent AutoPark garage (near the corner of Regent Drive and Colorado Avenue). The service is free and anonymous; there will be no questions asked. The last 鈥渢ake-back鈥� initiative, led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, collected听377,086 pounds of unwanted or expired medications for safe and proper disposal at 5,327 collection sites across the United States.
The intent of this event is to provide an opportunity for individuals to safely and properly dispose of accumulated unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs. This will help to minimize the potential for prescription drug misuse and abuse as well as environmental damage from improperly disposed medication.
鈥淭he amount of prescription drugs turned in by the American public during the past three Take-Back Day events speaks volumes about the need to develop a convenient way to rid homes of unwanted or expired prescription drugs,鈥� said DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart. 鈥淒EA remains hard at work to establish just such a drug disposal process, and will continue to offer take-back opportunities until the proper regulations are in place.鈥�
