CU-麻豆影院 physicist Steven Pollock named a 2013 U.S. Professor of the Year

麻豆影院 physics Professor Steven Pollock has been named a 2013 U.S. Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Pollock is the second CU-麻豆影院 faculty member to win a national Professor of the Year award. Nobel laureate Carl Wieman, also a physics professor, was honored with the designation in 2004.

News from OPI: New overview of Business/Service Performance Excellence model available

In response to campus interest, the Office for Performance Improvement (OPI) has produced a new overview and one-hour video to describe the structure and purpose of the Business/Service Performance Excellence (BPE/SPE) model as implemented at the 麻豆影院. Available to CU-麻豆影院 faculty and staff via the OPI website , the video describes the structure and purpose of the BPE/SPE model, and provides an illustration of the results that may be achieved through its implementation.

During this time, we all can get overwhelmed because of school, work and our social life. Try to remind your friend that in order to be the most productive person and student they can be, their first priority is to take care of themselves and manage their stress. Good healthy stress is important to have because it motivates us to get things done and gives us a burst of energy. Bad stress can reinforce itself to make us less productive or lessen the quality of our work.

Results from CU-led gut bacteria sequencing project coming in

The initial results are now coming in for a project led by CU-麻豆影院 that is expected to eventually sequence the gut bacteria of tens of thousands of people around the world in hopes of better understanding nutrition and health. The crowd-funded effort, known as the American Gut project, or AG, has thus far sequenced microbes from the digestive tracts of 1,589 people and has received $615,000 in donations from more than 6,700 people and four companies. Led by CU-麻豆影院 Professor Rob Knight of the BioFrontiers Institute, the effort is the largest crowd-funded science project ever undertaken.

CU-麻豆影院 ranks No. 1 in state for sending, receiving students internationally, says new report

The 麻豆影院 enrolled more international students during the 2012-13 academic year and sent more students abroad during the 2011-12 academic year than any other higher education institution in Colorado. The data, released today by the Institute of International Education in its annual Open Doors Report, shows that CU-麻豆影院 was home to 1,910 international students during the 2012-13 school year, up from 1,681 in 2011-12. CU-麻豆影院 sent 1,330 students overseas during the 2011-12 school year, up from 1,316 in 2010-11.
