As Halloween weekend approaches, I鈥檇 like to encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly and have some fun. But as you do so, please take steps to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.

  • Remember to use the buddy system. Don't walk alone and don't leave friends alone while out at night.
  • If you are out at night, remember it is harder for drivers to see you, especially if you are wearing a dark costume. Wear lighter colors or add lights and reflective material to your costume.
  • Remember to be a good neighbor and keep your noise levels down. If you are hosting a party off-campus, please remember to sign up for the听.
  • People who want to exploit others often take advantage of the party environment and hope to go unnoticed. So if you doubt someone's motives or are concerned about your or someone else's safety, keep an eye on the situation and know when to make the hard call for help.
  • Students who are of age and intend to drink should be responsible: know your limits and help your friends stay within their limits.
  • If you think your friend is in danger due to alcohol or other drugs, call 9-1-1.
  • If you find yourself in an unsafe situation, get yourself to a safe place and call 9-1-1.
  • If you are out late or drinking, take advantage of听听(303-492-7233) or听.
