Are you among the nearly 25% of U.S. adults reporting as caregiver to another adult (Caregivers in the U.S., 2014)? If so, you are likely at higher risk of increased emotional distress and poor health behaviors (APA, Our Health at Risk, 2014). Caregiver distress accumulates with the myriad decisions that must be made concerning your aging or disabled loved-one coupled with the emotional and physical tolls of coordinating daily personal care. We are often unprepared for caregiving roles that develop unexpectedly and without preparation. However, planning ahead for the care of your loved one(s) can help ease the stress of caregiving (Alz.org, 2014). In addition, planning ahead for your own anticipated care can create the gift of stress-reduction for family members.听
