A new study by a University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ journalism professor that spotlights the growing trend of "news outsourcing" - when big-city radio stations produce and package local news stories for sister stations in distant markets - has garnered the attention of federal regulators who are reviewing media ownership rules. More than 40 percent of radio stations produce news for one or more stations outside their own markets, according to data from the Radio-TV News Directors Association cited in a study by Lee Hood, assistant professor of broadcast journalism at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ.

University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ anthropology Professor Payson Sheets will give a free public talk on Monday, Sept. 17, about the site of Ceren in El Salvador, buried by volcanic ash 1,400 years ago and considered the best preserved ancient village in Latin America. The archaeology talk will be on campus at 7 p.m. in room 220 of the Education Building, located just north of the intersection of 15th Street and Broadway. CU-Â鶹ӰԺ's Sportsmanship Program Features Hotline

The University of Colorado's sportsmanship program, "Compete with Class" enters its fifth year at Folsom Field with this Saturday's gridiron match-up against Florida State University starting at 8 p.m. MST. A hotline, (303) 735-BUFF, will be available to fans to report unruly behavior. The hotline was installed midway through the season last year.

CU Police Will Enforce Stadium Rules On Alcohol, Banned Articles And Unruly Behavior At Sept. 15 Game

CU Buffs fans who are rowdy or who try to smuggle banned substances into Folsom Stadium at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ could find themselves ejected from the game under tight enforcement of rules violations planned by CU Police. CU Police Chief Joe Roy said this Saturday's 8 p.m. game with Florida State will follow the model for all home games of recent years in which violations of banned substances and materials, or disruptive and unruly behavior, could result in fans being booted from the game.

Author Ivan Doig To Receive Stegner Award From CU-Â鶹ӰԺ's Center Of The American West On Sept. 27

Ivan Doig, the acclaimed author of "This House of Sky" and 10 other books often set in Montana, will receive the Wallace Stegner Award from the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ's Center of the American West on Thursday, Sept. 27. The center's highest award will be presented at 7 p.m. in the Wolf Law Building courtroom. The evening will feature a discussion with Doig conducted by Patty Limerick, professor of history and chair and faculty director of the Center of the American West, and Charles Wilkinson, distinguished professor of law at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ.
