The University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ welcomed a freshman class of 5,555 students this fall, 62 students shy of last year's record-setting freshman class of 5,617. The entering 2007 freshman class follows a two-year increase in freshman applications of 16 percent. Fall 2007 census figures announced today show that overall enrollment at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ changed little from fall 2006. The campus enrolled 28,988 degree-seeking students this fall, 46 more than last year and an increase of 0.1 percent.

The winner in a student contest to develop the 2007-08 "spirit shirt" design for the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ will be honored this Saturday, Sept. 22, at the CU vs. Miami of Ohio football game at Folsom Stadium. CU-Â鶹ӰԺ sophomore Johnny Laychaypha created the winning design. A math and economics major, Laychaypha will receive a $250 gift certificate for the CU Bookstore, a framed copy of the printed shirt and a one-year membership to the HERD. The shirt will be sold during home football games and in the CU Bookstore.

NASA astronaut Steve Swanson will be unable to participate in the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ's 2007 Homecoming parade on Sept. 28 due to unexpected NASA training obligations, CU-Â鶹ӰԺ officials announced today. Swanson is still scheduled to appear during halftime at the CU versus Oklahoma football game on Oct. 29.
