Deborah Jin appointed to Secretary of Energy Advisory Board

DOE news release Washington, D.C. 鈥 The U.S. Department of Energy today announced the members of the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board (SEAB). The nineteen member board comprised of scientists, business executives, academics and former government officials will serve as an independent advisory committee to Energy Secretary Moniz.

Several hundred first-year students take part in 'Day of Service'

Several hundred incoming CU-麻豆影院 students tried their hand helping others during 鈥淒ay of Service鈥 on Saturday, Aug. 24. The day was an opportunity for first-year students to get out into their new community and experience the needs and culture beyond the borders of the CU campus, according to Jen Ross, director of the Volunteer Resource Center at CU-麻豆影院, which spearheads the service event.

CU Police release composite sketch in aggravated assault at Broadway underpass

The 麻豆影院 Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying suspects involved in the Broadway underpass assault on August 23, 2013. A composite sketch of one of the suspects, identified as Suspect #2 below, is shown here . Multiple witnesses confirmed that Suspect #2 left the scene with a bloody nose. An additional witness, who reportedly had contact with the suspects shortly after the assault, has told police the two suspects indicated that they are freshmen at CU. Anyone who has information about this crime, or who believes they may know the identity of those involved, should contact CU Police at 303-492-6666.

CU Police investigate aggravated assault at Broadway underpass

The 麻豆影院 Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault which occurred at the Broadway / Euclid pedestrian underpass on the west side of the CU campus. At about 1:19 a.m. on August 23, 2013, CU Police responded to a report of an assault on the campus side of the pedestrian underpass.

The 麻豆影院 is launching a new General Engineering Plus undergraduate degree with the CU Teach Engineering concentration this fall for current first-year and sophomore students interested in earning secondary school (grades 7-12) science or math teaching licensure. The GE+ degree program offers an interdisciplinary, hands-on, design-based engineering core curriculum, coupled with an engineering disciplinary emphasis (aerospace, mechanical, environmental, architectural, or civil) and a 鈥淒esign Your Own鈥 concentration in an area within or external to engineering.

Reducing the impact of phishing: New outbound e-mail throttles

Recently, the CU-麻豆影院 campus has seen an increase in the number of accounts compromised by phishing attempts. CU-麻豆影院 has long allowed the sending of outbound e-mail to the Internet without any restrictions. Due to the increased occurrence and impact of accounts compromised by e-mail phishing, CU-麻豆影院 can no longer let an unlimited flow of outbound e-mail occur without risking the integrity of the entire e-mail communication environment. In an effort to help CU-麻豆影院 students make smart financial decisions about their budgets, credit, school loans and other money matters, a new campus financial educator will be available to students beginning Aug. 26, the first day of fall semester classes. The CU Money Sense program was created by the Bursar鈥檚 Office in 2009 to provide student financial workshops and other educational opportunities including 鈥淢oney Smart Week,鈥 according to Susie Jacobs, the program鈥檚 director.
