An additionalÌýwitness, who reportedly had contact with the suspects shortly after the assault, has told police the two suspects indicated that they are freshmen at CU.Ìý

The text of the original release follows:

The Â鶹ӰԺ Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault which occurred at the Broadway / Euclid pedestrian underpass on the west side of the CU campus. At about 1:19 a.m. on August 23, 2013, CU Police responded to a report of an assault on the campus side of the pedestrian underpass.

According to witnesses, two male suspects approached a group of students and reportedly made derogatory statements including the fact that one of the individuals resembled a noted DJ and recording artist of Asian descent. A male CU student overhead the comment, intervened in the conversation, and punched one of the suspects. The two suspects proceeded to punch and kick the male student before fleeing to the east. The male CU student was transported to the hospital where it was determined that he suffered serious bodily injury to his face, including fractures and broken bones.

CU Police searched the area and were unable to locate the suspects. Witnesses provided the following description of the suspects:

Suspect #1

  • White Male
  • College aged
  • 5’9 to 5’10
  • Skinny build
  • Long brown hair
  • Wearing a gray shirt, shorts, and black socks

Suspect #2

  • White Male
  • College aged
  • 5’8 to 5’10
  • Buzzed blond hair
  • Wearing a black shirt and jeans
