Students encouraged to arrive early for Saturday's Central Arkansas game

Students attending the first home football game Saturday against Central Arkansas at 6 p.m. are encouraged to arrive at Folsom Field early to enjoy all the gameday festivities. Stadium gates open at 4:30 p.m., and student seating is first-come, first-served, so fans who want to be in the first few rows should arrive early.

Startup Phenomenon Women 2013 drew a crowd of students, faculty, staff and community members to Macky Auditorium on Sept. 3. The university-supported event, with a theme encouraging women to empower themselves and featuring leaders from a variety of industries, resembled the popular 鈥淭ED Talks鈥 format. Speakers had the chance to share who they are, what their stories are and the variety of ways they鈥檝e been successful.

CU-麻豆影院 researchers attract $351 million in sponsored funding

Faculty at the University of Colorado attracted research awards totaling $774,079,158 during the 2012-13 fiscal year, based on preliminary figures. That investment in CU maintains the university鈥檚 place as one of the top research institutions in the country, the total ranking as fourth-highest in CU history. The amount slipped 5.6 percent from the previous year, reflecting an increasingly competitive arena shaped in part by tightening federal budgets.

Rare western bumblebees netted on Colorado鈥檚 Front Range during CU-麻豆影院 survey

A white-rumped bumblebee that has been in steep decline across its native range in the western United States and Canada appears to be making a comeback on the Colorado Front Range. A survey of bumblebee populations carried out largely by 麻豆影院 undergraduates in undisturbed patches of prairieland and in mountain meadows above campus has turned up more than 20 rare western bumblebees, known scientifically as Bombus occidentalis.
