It's not too late to apply for a scholarship. The CU-麻豆影院 scholarship application process for 2016-17 is available through March 1 on the student portal. CU-麻豆影院 also encourages students to apply for privately-funded scholarships.

Shakespearean space musical 'Return to the Forbidden Planet' to run March 4-13

The madcap jukebox musical 鈥淩eturn to the Forbidden Planet,鈥 set in a rock 鈥榥鈥 roll Shakespearean spaceship, comes to University Theatre this March. Associate Professor Cecilia Pang directs the production, which promises nonstop laughs, infectious tunes and a generous nod to the Bard.

Strange as it may seem, a bird bigger than Big Bird once lived above the Arctic Circle. The flightless bird, known as Gastornis , roamed Ellesmere Island next to Greenland about 50 million years ago, even during the twilight months of winter.

Join your fellow students, staff, faculty and administration for the spring Diversity Summit Thursday, Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Kittredge Central and the Champions Center. The summit will focus on 鈥淕oing Beyond II: Deepening the Dialogue鈥 and will emphasize intergroup dialogues, caucuses hosted by the Chancellor鈥檚 Advisory Committees on issues relevant to campus, contemporary teach-ins, and inclusive excellence facilitations. The goal of the Spring Summit is to begin to have dialogues for achieving continuous social change.

Bestselling author Naomi Klein at CU to discuss 'Capitalism vs the Climate'

International bestselling author, journalist and columnist Naomi Klein will visit CU-麻豆影院 on Thursday, March 3, to give the talk 鈥淭his Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate.鈥 The talk, which is free to CU-麻豆影院 community members with a valid Buff OneCard and $5 for members of the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom. Tickets will be available at the door.

Sabrina Sideris, program director of CU-麻豆影院's INVST Community Studies, takes great pride in working with CU students to help them learn to become engaged citizens and leaders. In fact, she was once one of those students. Sideris became interested in community-based learning and social justice when she was a CU-麻豆影院 undergraduate (1996-2000).

Katherine Schultz named next CU-麻豆影院 School of Education dean

麻豆影院 Provost Russell L. Moore has named Katherine Schultz dean of the School of Education effective Aug. 1, 2016. Schultz succeeds Lorrie Shepard, who is returning to the faculty as a distinguished professor after 15 years as dean. Schultz presently serves as professor and dean of the School of Education at Mills College, a liberal arts and sciences college in Oakland, California.

CELEBRATE: 2016 Exhibitions Opening Party at the CU Art Museum

Lunar New Year, Mardi Gras, and Valentine's Day fall within a few days of each other this year. The CU Art Museum is adding another reason to celebrate with the opening of three new exhibitions this Friday, Feb. 12. The opening festivities will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at the CU Art Museum, located in the Visual Arts Complex. Admission is free. The evening will include a variety of performances and activity stations, along with the opening of three new exhibits.
