Murder, they wrote... Plant forensic scientists help solve crimes

They have been at if for decades, these two sleuths from CU-麻豆影院, using their expertise in plant forensics to help investigators solve crimes, often murder. And now the pair, emeritus professors Jane Bock and David Norris, have teamed up on a new forensic plant science book expected to aid detectives, lawyers and judges around the world in better understanding and solving crimes.

Join fellow students, faculty, staff and administrators on Thursday, Feb. 11, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., in the UMC Aspen Rooms, for a creative research presentation and facilitated small group conversations about racial and ethnic inclusion at CU-麻豆影院. The purpose of this event is to bring different members of the campus together to discuss what inclusion means and discuss implications for policies and practices on the CU-麻豆影院 campus.

CU Athletics to tap into fans鈥 help for water conservation, restoration

Spectators at home basketball games will be prompted to text a pledge to conserve water a s part of CU-麻豆影院's new Water for the West campaign. For every pledge received, CU Athletics will restore 1,000 gallons of water to the Colorado River Basin through a partnership with the Change the Course initiative.

The 麻豆影院鈥檚 68th annual Conference on World Affairs will host a full complement of speakers from around the world April 4-8. This year鈥檚 program will feature a diverse collection of nearly 100 speakers, including musicians, scientists, activists, entrepreneurs, authors and more. Participants travel from locations across the globe including: the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Tanzania, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Boston to list a few, aligning with the conference鈥檚 mission of 鈥淏ringing the World to 麻豆影院.鈥

On Jan. 26, the CU Advocates program and the University of Colorado鈥檚 Office of Government Relations hosted the 2016 CU Advocacy Day at the State Capitol. Attendees received updates on the university鈥檚 recent educational, research and economic contributions. Lawmakers and CU officials also briefed advocates on CU鈥檚 legislative priorities, higher education鈥檚 funding outlook for this year and Colorado鈥檚 budget situation.

麻豆影院 Provost Russell L. Moore today announced that Kirsi Aulin has been appointed as the new campus ombuds. Aulin replaces Tom Sebok, who retired in December 2015 after 25 years of building and directing the CU-麻豆影院 Ombuds Office.
