During the two incidents yesterday, we heard from some of you about some of the terms we used in our emergency communication. We hope this will help everyone understand what the terms mean and why we use them.

As we come back together after a tough day on campus, I again extend my appreciation to all of our community members who stepped up and made a difference in each other’s lives yesterday.

Yesterday was quite scary and unsettling for many students and the entire CU Â鶹ӰԺ community. During times like this it is important to pay attention to your emotional well-being.

Today we experienced a threatening situation in the Folsom Field Champions Center. Later in the day, a number of calls were made to police dispatch regarding unconfirmed reports of an active threat at three separate locations. I thank everyone who responded quickly and calmly to the CU Â鶹ӰԺ Alert regarding today’s incident.

Ambitious goals can become a reality when backed by a supportive community and an encouraging environment. For Joey Arora, a CU Â鶹ӰԺ student who studied business, his twofold goal of starting his own company and joining the U.S. Air Force was made possible by his internal drive and a network of supporters.

Methane emissions from global fossil fuel development are up to 60 percent greater than previous estimates, according to a new study.

The Center of the American West is now accepting entries for the 18th annual Thompson Awards for Western American Writing. Winners in seven categories will receive $500 prizes. The contest is only open to CU Â鶹ӰԺ students.

Faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences have voted to revise the college’s core curriculum for the first time since 1988, a faculty committee announced Tuesday. The move will improve the educational experience for undergraduates in the college, proponents say.

CU Â鶹ӰԺ is partnering with five Colorado community colleges to strengthen pathways for students to transfer more easily from two-year colleges to CU Â鶹ӰԺ, especially students interested in science.

The Colorado Buffaloes will host UCLA at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 for a game to be nationally televised on FS1.
