First time users must receive training from a co-worker who runs the centrifuge/instrument of interest routinely or from Dr. Erbse or Emily Proksch听(see contact information below).

First time users intrested in using the Ultra centrifuges must recieve training from Dr. Ebrse or Emily Proksch听(see contact information below).

Centrifuges and Autoclaves:

Users can sign up for instrument time . Users must be connected via VPN, if not on campus. After connecting, users can log in with their Identikey username and password.听 Detailed step-by-step instructions for the sign up process can be found here.听If you need help, please reach out to the SIP director Dr. Erbse.听In addition users must sign the听 Excel log sheets on the desktops of the PCs to document their instrument usage.

Sonicator and Emulsiflex C3 Homogenizer:

Trained users can sign up for sonicator time via a Google Calendar. Users will be given access to the calendar after the initial training.

Refractometer, Liquid Scintillation Counter and Mini Extruder:

These instruments can be used on a walk-up basis. Users must sign the log sheets to document their usage.

听

Regular user groups are expected to opt into the pool and pay a monthly share that goes towards the general up keep of the Shared Instruments Pool. For detailed information please contact Dr. Annette Erbse.
Users are expected to provide all consumables specific to their experiment, as well as, consumables specific to cleaning the instrument after use.
Groups must pay for any parts or repairs due to damage by neglect or carelessness (If you break it - you bought it!).
Cost for repairs/parts/services resulting from normal wear will be split between all user groups.
Please Note - Since repairs/service from normal wear might not be necessary every year, depending on use, these costs听might come quite some time after use.
