Celina Su to kick off two-day community-based initiatives discussion Sept. 24

On Thursday, Sept. 24, Celina Su, an internationally recognized expert in critical participatory action research, urban studies, and grassroots organizing, will deliver "Participation for What?," a keynote speech on the possibilities and tensions in community-based initiatives. Her presentation will begin at 4 p.m. in Old Main Chapel. On Friday, Sept. 25, the conversation continues with a community panel at 9 a.m. and two interactive workshops at 10:30 a.m.; both will be held in the Kittredge Multipurpose Room.

A month of space and Earth science-related activities on the CU-Â鶹ӰԺ campus kicks off Our Space. Our Future ., a universitywide Grand Challenge. Â鶹ӰԺ campus departments and cultural institutions will host over 20 events and exhibits, including talks by space sciences professionals, showings of space films by the International Film Series, art installations, displays of student space pods and a scavenger hunt for a rover named Destiny.

The Â鶹ӰԺ today announced Our Space, Our Future, a universitywide Grand Challenge to build on the university’s strengths in aerospace-enabled science and technology to address some of the world’s most pressing problems. Through Our Space. Our Future., the university will make strategic investments over a number of years to transform the landscape of space exploration and find pathways to address significant issues our planet faces, such as a changing environment, increasing populations and limited resources.

Acclaimed satirists to speak at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Oct. 6

Four of today’s most acclaimed satirists, Megan Amram, Kevin Avery, Aasif Mandvi and Scott Dikkers, come together for a one-of-a-kind discussion on the state of comedy on Oct. 6 at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ’s Macky Auditorium Concert Hall. The event, titled The State of Satire, is presented by the Distinguished Speakers Board.

Jane Goodall lecture moves to Coors Events Center

Due to popular demand, the Oct. 1 George Gamow Memorial Lecture featuring Dr. Jane Goodall has been moved to the Coors Events Center from Macky Auditorium. Tickets already issued for the event will be honored. An announcement on expanded seating for the event will be made next week.
