We recommend meeting with your mentor 2-3 times over the course of the semester. These meetings can be scheduled based on your and your mentor鈥檚 availability and can take place virtually, over the phone, or in person. Meetings are scheduled by the mentee and mentors - the AMP team does not schedule your meetings for you.聽
It's normal to feel uncertain at first. You can start by discussing your career interests, goals, and any questions you have about your field of interest. Use the PLC AMP Connection Roadmap as a guide to help structure your conversations and get the most out of your meetings. Also, be honest with your mentor about your anxieties surrounding the conversation - that's what they're here for!聽
If you鈥檙e having trouble getting in touch with your mentor, try sending a polite follow-up email or message. If you still encounter difficulties, please contact Lia at lia.dino@colorado.edu聽for assistance in re-establishing contact.
Yes! If you and your mentor both wish to continue your relationship beyond the semester, you are welcome to do so informally. However, each semester involves a new matching process, so you will also have the option to be matched with different聽alumni in the future.
If you feel that the connection with your mentor isn鈥檛 aligning with your expectations, please reach out to Lia at lia.dino@colorado.edu.聽We can discuss the situation and explore options to ensure a positive experience for you.
As a mentee, you鈥檙e expected to take initiative in communicating with your mentor, be open to feedback, and actively participate in your meetings. Review the Expectations Agreement to understand the full scope of your responsibilities in this program.
