Gary Kramer (IntlAf; Law鈥�89), formerly of Berenbaum Weinshienk PC, was appointed as a district court judge for the 18th Judicial District, which covers Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties in Colorado. A shareholder at Berenbaum Weinshienk, Gary鈥檚 practice focused on contract disputes, state retirement benefits, domestic matters, pro-bate, fiduciary disputes and land use.

After a back聽injury left聽Renny James (Edu)聽confined to a wheelchair,聽he took up bee farming聽as a way to manage his聽depression. This year, his聽hive will produce about聽250 pounds of honey.聽His children also help聽with the bees. Renny聽lives in Kirk, Colo., where聽he graduated from high聽school and where he later聽taught. Last fall, he was聽featured on the cover of聽The Fence Post magazine.

Todd Lampert (Acct)聽was elected chairman of聽the board of directors of聽Waveny LifeCare Network,聽which provides comprehensive healthcare for聽older adults. Todd has聽been聽an attorney for more聽than 25 years. His law聽practice, Lampert, Toohey聽and Rucci in New Canaan,聽Conn., has served clients聽since 1997. Todd is also聽the founder of the聽Bank聽of New Canaan, now聽Bankwell, and serves as聽director and corporate聽secretary for the bank. He聽lives in New Canaan with聽his wife, Antoinette, and聽their three children.

Weston Tew (MPhys;聽PhD鈥�89), a staff physicist聽at the National Institute聽of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg,聽Md., received the ASTM聽International Award of聽Merit,聽the highest organizational聽recognition for individual聽contributions to standards聽activities. Weston has聽worked in the thermal and聽electrical metrology sector聽for more聽than 35 years and聽is a recognized expert in聽the field of thermometry.聽He was a staff physicist in聽the NIST process measurements division for 17 years聽and has been in his current聽role in the NIST sensor science division since 2011.

Michael Brody (A&S)聽produces the Crested聽Butte Film Festival. Now in聽its sixth year, the festival聽annually screens documentary, narrative, short,聽and action adventure films聽the last weekend in September. Festival dates for聽2016 are Sept. 29 鈥� Oct.聽2. The city of San Jose, Calif., appointed Jacky Morales-Ferrand (A&S; MPubAd鈥�97) housing director. She previously served as assistant director, overseeing planning and operations for programs with a combined annual budget of $62 million, a portfolio of $800 million in loans and grants and a staff of 62 employees. She has also served as director of housing and neighborhood development in Denver and as homeownership program manager for 麻豆影院.

St. Louis, Mo., resident聽Charles H. 鈥淐hip鈥� Fendell聽(InfoSys) was directly affected by kidney disease and received two life-saving kidney transplants. After his experience, he began working with the National Kidney Foundation to educate the public about kidney disease. Last year he was elected to the foundation鈥檚 board of directors. Charles is a partner at the Thompson Coburn law firm and has been voted into the Best Lawyers in America since 2005.

Tina Bennett Andrykowski鈥檚 (IntlAf) son Easton attends CU-麻豆影院 and she takes advantage of every opportunity possible to visit him. 鈥淚 have great memories of my years at CU and I wish the same for my son,鈥� she writes. Tina lives in Woodland Hills, Calif.

The University of Missouri System named聽Brian Burnett聽(Econ; Fin鈥�93; PhDEdu鈥�10) vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Brian previously served as senior executive vice chancellor for administration and finance at University of Colorado Colorado Springs. In his new role, he is responsible for setting strategy and long-term planning for the university鈥檚 financial functions.

Tom Weis聽(EnvCon鈥�85) has more than 25 years of environmental and political organizing experience. He is president of Climate Crisis Solutions, an environmental consulting firm. In 2010, he rode his unique 鈥渞ocket trike鈥� more than 2,500 miles from 麻豆影院 to Washington, D.C. to raise awareness about renewable energy, and in 2011 nearly 2,200 miles from Canada to the Texas Gulf to protest the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. He lives in 麻豆影院.

Few people have experienced Yellowstone National Park like聽Marjane Ambler聽(Engl鈥�85). Marjane and her husband lived in a tiny community near the shores of Yellowstone Lake, deep in the park鈥檚 interior. Her book聽Yellowstone Has Teeth, a personal memoir about living year-round in the world鈥檚 first national park, was published in June 2013. In the book Marjane reveals a hidden Yellowstone where the beauty is stunning, the dangers real and the experience deeply challenging. She now lives in Atlantic City, Wyo., and her website is .

The American Institute of Physics selected聽Jeffrey Bennett聽(MAstro鈥�85, PhD鈥�87) as one of two winners of the 2013 AIP Science Communication Awards. The award recognizes exceptional science writing that improves the public鈥檚 appreciation of physics, astronomy and related fields. Jeffrey鈥檚 winning work is a fun and informative science book for kids about a dog who trains to be an astronaut and goes to the moon. He lives in 麻豆影院.

Merrick & Company named聽Christopher Sherry聽(ArchEngr鈥�85) the company鈥檚 chief operating officer. Christopher is responsible for the successful execution of all projects and the overall financial performance of all business units, including international subsidiaries. Previously Christopher led the corporate and business development group in acquiring four firms that have contributed an additional $12 million in revenue to Merrick. He lives in Castle Rock, Colo.

Julann Velvin Andresen聽(Mktg鈥�85) joined the CU-麻豆影院 Alumni Association as director of events and outreach in June. She writes she is thrilled to be part of the alumni team. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Louisville, Colo.

In June聽Shelby Serrin Bell聽(Bus鈥�85) graduated from the National War College at National Defense University. She received a masters of science in national security strategy. Shelby is a retired Army officer and works at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C. She lives in Annapolis, Md., with her three teenage children.

ITT Exelis appointed聽Pamela Drew聽(Math鈥�85, MCompSci鈥�87, PhD鈥�91) as president of its information systems area. Pamela is responsible for leading the system development, networking, radio frequency communications and information systems efforts of the company. Her team will provide capabilities for critical missions that include defense and intelligence systems, air traffic management, space and earth science and homeland defense. Pamela lives in Great Falls, Va.

Loveland, Colo., resident聽Maureen McCann聽(Econ鈥�85) is co-owner and co-manager of HomeCare of the Rockies, a non-medical provider of services for seniors and families, offering in-home care and assistance to seniors who wish to live independently.

Yoga instructor聽Julie Dean聽(Acct鈥�85) volunteers at Yoga Behind Bars, a nonprofit organization that sends 50 certified yoga instructors to teach in prisons and jails. In addition to teaching yoga, Julie has been a certified public accountant for 20 years and serves as a member of the yoga organization鈥檚 board of directors. She lives in Kirkland, Wash.
