Working to support the university,听Rick Lawrence听(Fin鈥80) is president and chief executive officer at University of Colorado Foundation. He played a fundamental role in the strategic planning process for the university鈥檚 $1.5 billion Creating Futures campaign and helped lead the Foundation to its five most successful fundraising years ever. Rick lives in Lafayette, Colo., with his wife听Barbara Lawrence(MComDisor鈥96) and their two children. He also serves as president of the board of directors at Peak to Peak Charter School.

After taking a one-year hiatus in the 2012-13 season to spend more time with her mother, Gail announced she will return to Monarch High School as the girls鈥 basketball head coach. 鈥淛ust not to be in that capacity this past winter was pretty unusual and pretty strange,鈥 Gail told BoCoPreps.com. She lives in Lafayette, Colo.

础蝉迟谤辞苍补耻迟听Steve Swanson听(EngrPhys鈥83) will serve as crew member on two future expeditions aboard the International Space Station. The internationally developed research station orbits the earth about once every 90 minutes. Steve, with five others, will live on the station for six months starting in March 2014. Steve will serve as a flight engineer on Expedition 39 and as a station commander on Expedition 40. He lives in Friendswood, Texas.

鈥淢ulticultural Percussion Music鈥 is the title of an article written by听Geary Larrick听(DMus鈥84) for the spring 2013 issue of听National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors Journal.听He has written 45 articles for听迟丑别听journal since 1968, including work from his dissertation at CU-麻豆影院. Geary lives in Stevens Point, Wis.

In June听Shelby Serrin Bell听(Bus鈥85) graduated from the National War College at National Defense University. She received a masters of science in national security strategy. Shelby is a retired Army officer and works at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C. She lives in Annapolis, Md., with her three teenage children.

Clifford Law Offices invited听Tim Tomasik听(Jour鈥86) to speak at the SEAK 22nd Annual National Expert Witness Conference on 鈥淗ow to Use Technology in the Courtroom to Support Your Expert Opinion.鈥 Tim also spoke at the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association Annual Update and Review Seminar and traveled to London to speak to barristers and solicitors about catastrophic injuries and the different legal approaches in America and England. After having a private practice in hand surgery for nine years听Timothy Allen听(MCDBio鈥87, MD鈥91) became director of hand surgery for the Greenville Health System in Greenville, S.C. In addition, Timothy teaches residents and medical students. He lives in Piedmont, S.C., with his wife Tiffany and their son Benjamin. They are expecting a second boy in September.

TIME听magazine included听Richard Cook听(EngrPhys鈥87) in its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Richard was part of the Pathfinder mission team that landed the first rover on Mars in 1997 and the team that landed the Curiosity rover on Mars last summer. He lives in Canyon County, Calif.

After graduating from CU鈥檚 journalism school听Eric Vanderpool鈥檚 (Jour鈥89) first job was working for Caesars Resort and Casino in South Lake Tahoe, Nev. Eric served as the property鈥檚 chief copywriter, writing hotel brochures and newsletters and doing special event advertising. After moving to San Francisco and working for a marketing firm, Eric graduated from UCLA law school in 1996. He worked as a litigation attorney in Los Angeles before moving to San Francisco 14 years ago to continue litigating.

In March听Caroline Eader听(EPOBio鈥90) and the home she is wishing to restore appeared in 迟丑别听Daily Camera听as she plans to relocate the 1,800-square-foot historic bungalow from the Grandview neighborhood to a property in Chautauqua in 麻豆影院. The house is one of three on Grandview that CU-麻豆影院 planned to demolish but decided to award to anyone who would relocate them. Caroline lives in 麻豆影院.

Earth sciences professor and pioneer听Greg Asner听(ArchEgnr鈥91, MGeog鈥95, PhDEPOBio鈥97) was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Greg developed his own new methods for investigating tropical deforestation, degradation, ecosystem diversity, invasive species, carbon emissions and climate change using satellite and airborne instrumentation. He is a staff scientist in global ecology at the Carnegie Institution for Science and an environmental earth system sciences professor in the Stanford University earth sciences school. Greg lives in Stanford, Calif.

He also wrote听Vicious: Wolves and Men in America, which won the W. Turrentine Jackson Prize and the John H. Dunning Prize. Jon lives in South Bend, Ind.

Creators of听South ParkMatt Stone听(Art, Math鈥93) and听Trey Parker听(A&S ex鈥93) announced they are forming a production company named Important Studios. It is valued at $300 million. The announcement appeared in an article in January published by听TheNew York Times听titled 鈥淔ortifying the Empire听South Park听Built.鈥 Matt and Trey have created 16 seasons of听South Park, made four feature films and created the Broadway hit听The Book of Mormon, which grosses almost $5 million per week.

Linfield College honored psychology professor听Tanya Tompkins听(Psych鈥94) with the Samuel H. Graf Faculty Achievement Award. The award recognizes a faculty member who has made an outstanding contribution to the life of the college that extends beyond her regular duties. Described as a remarkable teacher, she has engaged more than 20 students in collaborative research during the past two years and initiated a brown bag program called Research Experience in Psychology to showcase student research. Tanya lives in McMinnville, Ore.

On May 6,听Dan Roth听(Comm鈥96) and his wife welcomed their fourth child, Decker Cole. Roth works as a bond trader for Charles Schwab & Co. in the Denver Tech Center. He writes the family looks forward to attending many football games this fall as a family of six.
