On behalf of CU-麻豆影院 Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano and the entire campus community, we extend our thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims of the shootings in Aurora.

麻豆影院 Interim Vice Chancellor for Administration Jeff Lipton today announced that CU-麻豆影院 is accepting proposals from qualified house movers and contractors to relocate three houses owned by the university in the Grandview Terrace area of the campus.

The 麻豆影院 Staff Council extends a special thanks to all those who participated in the 2012 Bonfils blood drives, with additional thanks to the UMC, Rec Center and the SAFE committee for providing locations and approvals, in addition to the great folks at Bonfils Blood Centers.

A variety of public health issues plague the refugees from Burma living on the Thai border, not the least of which is drinking water contaminated by bacteria and pesticides. Yet few low-cost, sustainable and appropriate treatment technologies are available to people in rural and developing communities to ensure water safety.

Steve Thweatt, associate vice president of planning, design and construction at Emory University, has been named executive director of Facilities Management at the 麻豆影院. Thweatt, the CU-麻豆影院 campus architect and director of planning, design and construction from 1994 to 2007, will provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for capital planning, design and construction, sustainability, engineering, physical plant operations, campus utilities and campus logistics. His appointment is effective as of Aug. 1.

When a young caller for the 麻豆影院鈥檚 annual giving program asked Roe Green a decade ago if she would consider increasing her $100 annual gift to $150, he was the first to get the hint that Green might become a key part of the theater program from which she鈥檇 graduated in 1970. 鈥淚 told the caller, 鈥極h, I think I鈥檇 like to give more,鈥� 鈥� recalled Green.

In a day and age when the arts are often overlooked by those seeking more 鈥渃areer-oriented鈥� pursuits, Green鈥攚ho is on numerous boards including the College of Arts and Sciences Dean鈥檚 Advisory Council and the honorary board of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival鈥攕tands up for the importance of theater. 鈥淭heater helps in all walks of life,鈥� Green says. 鈥淚t gives you an opportunity to speak in front of people. What makes us human are the arts.鈥�

麻豆影院 researchers will be watching closely when South African bilateral leg amputee and sprinter Oscar Pistorius, dubbed 鈥淭he Blade Runner,鈥� makes his way to the starting block for the 400-meter sprint in the 2012 London Olympics.

The 麻豆影院鈥檚 Facilities Operations, a division of the Department of Facilities Management, has earned the highest institutional honor bestowed by APPA, the association serving educational facilities professionals. APPA鈥檚 Award for Excellence in Facilities Management will be formally presented on July 18 during the organization鈥檚 annual conference, to be held in Denver this year.
