CU to welcome students with convocation, music fest and more

Dozens of activities await new students at the 麻豆影院 starting Aug. 23, including a welcome convocation and a 鈥淕lobal Jam鈥 international food and music fest. The free events give new students a chance to get acquainted with each other, the campus and surrounding community before classes start on Aug. 27. The activities are scheduled in addition to orientation sessions that cover the details of class registration, policies and student services at each college.

CU volunteers to help new students move in Aug. 21 and Aug. 23

Volunteers from a variety of campus groups will be available to help new students move their belongings into residence halls at the 麻豆影院 Aug. 21 and Aug. 23 as New Student Move-In begins next week. New students will move in Aug. 21 through Aug. 23 with the majority of freshmen moving in on Aug. 23, according to Kambiz Khalili, executive director for Housing and Dining Services. The volunteer movers will be stationed near all campus residence halls to help students and their parents move belongings into the halls as quickly as possible.

CU-麻豆影院 research attracts $380.7 million in sponsored funding

CU System news release DENVER 鈥 Work by University of Colorado faculty garnered $815.3 million in sponsored research funding in fiscal year 2011-12, a rise of nearly $22 million over the previous fiscal year. The preliminary figures indicate one of the highest research totals in CU history; the only higher total came in fiscal year 2009-10, when one-time federal stimulus dollars contributed to a final tally of $884.1 million. Last year鈥檚 total was $793.5 million.

If you鈥檙e a planetarium junkie in the 麻豆影院 area, your experience is about to get a major upgrade. The astrophysical and planetary sciences department, home to Fiske Planetarium, announced today the launch of a complete upgrade to the projection and other presentation systems that power the planetarium鈥檚 big-screen experience. The remodel will turn the dome of the planetarium into an all-encompassing video theater.
