CU-麻豆影院 stages final winter commencement ceremony Dec. 19

The 麻豆影院 will hold its final winter commencement ceremony on at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Coors Events Center as the campus moves toward a single spring ceremony honoring all graduates. The ceremony, which is free and open to the public, will honor 1,736 candidates for degrees including 1,280 bachelor鈥檚 degrees, 280 master鈥檚 degrees, eight law degrees and 168 doctoral degrees.

Distinguished Speakers Board to host video chat event with Edward Snowden Feb. 16

The CU-麻豆影院 Distinguished Speakers Board is pleased to announce its second event of the year: former National Security Agency system administrator Edward Snowden is coming to the 麻豆影院 via video chat on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Ron Suskind , a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and former Wall Street Journal reporter, will moderate the event live from the Macky Auditorium.

In a joint study, researchers from CU-麻豆影院 and UC-San Diego discovered that unique microbial communities present on the human body during decomposition look to be a reliable 鈥渃lock,鈥 says CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 Jessica Metcalf, co-leader of the study.

Wrongly convicted 鈥楥entral Park Five鈥 defendant makes gift renaming CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 Innocence Project

A man exonerated in a high-profile case in which five New York City teenagers were wrongly convicted has pledged $190,000 to support the Innocence Project at the University of Colorado Law School. The Korey Wise Innocence Project at Colorado Law, now named for the donor, is a student-led volunteer program that investigates claims of wrongful convictions after traditional methods of appealing a conviction have failed.

From the Provost and SVC: Elevate upgrades are launching

As you likely realize, last Thursday, Dec. 3 was the launch date for the upgrade to the campus PeopleSoft Human Capital Management System (HCM). This will be followed on Thursday, Dec. 10 by the launch of the upgraded PeopleSoft Financials (FIN). These two dates also mark the completion of nearly two years of effort on the part of the CU System and a wide range of individuals on the 麻豆影院 campus.

Two CU-麻豆影院 faculty named AAAS fellows for 2015

Two 麻豆影院 faculty members have been elected fellows of the prestigious American Association for the Advancement of Science for 2015. The AAAS fellows are Professor and Chair Cora Randall of the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC) and the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), and LASP Senior Research Associate Michael King. They were among 347 AAAS fellows elected by their peers for efforts to advance science and its applications.
