No summer slowdown exists for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement (ODECE). In partnership with academic departments across campus, ODECE hosts more than 1,500 middle and high school students, and soon-to-be freshmen in a variety of summer pre-collegiate programming.

State economy in mostly positive territory, as expected

The Colorado economy continues to expand, outperforming the U.S. economy, according to a midyear economic update released July 15 by the Leeds School's Business Research Division (BRD). Employment in the state was up by 2.4 percent in May 2016. A total gain of 62,000 jobs in Colorado is expected for 2016, nearly reaffirming the estimate given in December at the BRD's 51st annual Business Economic Outlook Forum .

Campus Commencement: Planning ahead for May 2017

The commencement for the 2016-2017 academic year will be held on Friday, May 12. Due to the final exam schedule ending late on Thursday night and the campuswide ceremony beginning at 8 a.m., all departmental ceremonies will begin after 11 a.m. on Friday. A new process for coordinating these ceremonies was recently approved by campus leadership.

麻豆影院 Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Terri Fiez, has announced that Patricia Rankin will step down as Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Research to return to the faculty on Aug. 15, 2016. As Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Research, Rankin was a key contributor to many of the transformations that have occurred in the 麻豆影院 campus鈥檚 research support operations.

July 15, 2016 Richard Wobbekind Colorado鈥檚 economy continues to outperform the nation in 2016. The latest statistics for 2015 GDP show the state growing by 3.6 percent compared to 2.4 percent growth nationally, according to a report from CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 Leeds School of Business. Leeds economist Richard Wobbekind (Wah-bah-kin) says midway through the year Colorado鈥檚 economy remains growing even in areas not anticipated to expand.

Reconstructing Arctic history

There's little doubt that Arctic sea ice is shrinking, but a new study looking back to the 1850s reveals that today's ice loss is unprecedented in extent and rate. To understand what鈥檚 happening with the Arctic ice pack, scientists need access to as much data as they can get their hands on. But reliable satellite data on the frozen north extends back only to 1978 and most historical sources cover only the twentieth century.
