Eco Engage Events Program to launch Sept. 10

Join the CU Environmental Center as it launches the new Eco-Engage Events Program on Saturday, Sept. 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program's first excursion will take students on a tour of sustainable and local food systems on campus and in Â鶹ӰԺ, including CU dining, the Â鶹ӰԺ Farmers' Market, Â鶹ӰԺ Food Rescue and two local organic farms. The deadline to enroll is Sept. 6.

Tonight and tomorrow: Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema

ATLAS Center for Media, Art and Performance presents the 13th annual premiere of the Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema, dedicated to works that merge the beauty of dance with the innovations of cinematic art. Comprising 19 short films by local, regional and international artists, screenings on Friday and Saturday feature different programs. Looping video installations open at 7 p.m.

Like-minded discourse breeds extremism, research finds

Those bemused by political prattle on Facebook or the flag-waving frenzy at both major parties’ national conventions should withhold judgment about citizens who become politically extreme, according to new research by Jessica Keating, a PhD candidate in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. The study examined how even short discussions among like-minded people can radicalize individuals, often without them knowing their attitudes have changed.

CU Theatre & Dance stages ‘44 Plays for 44 Presidents’

Just in time for the United States presidential election, CU Â鶹ӰԺ's Department of Theatre & Dance gears up for a production of "44 Plays for 44 Presidents," a funny and poignant whirlwind trip through American history. The production, presented in collaboration with Â鶹ӰԺ’s own square product theatre, runs Sept. 23 through Oct. 2 in the University Theatre.

CU seeks city support on development of new hotel-conference center in heart of Â鶹ӰԺ

The city manager and staff will ask the Â鶹ӰԺ City Council next week to consider a collaborative plan with the university to develop a new hotel and conference center in the heart of the city. The center will have the potential to help revitalize The Hill commercial district and create a modern gathering place for academics, researchers and the community.

The buses will board in front of the Coors Events Center beginning at 2 p.m.
