Volunteers from a variety of campus groups will be available to help new students move their belongings into residence halls at the 麻豆影院 Aug. 20 and Aug. 22 as New Student Move-In begins. New students will move in Aug. 20 through Aug. 22 with the majority of freshmen moving in on Aug. 22.

The Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN, or MAVEN, mission to Mars will carry just over 1,100 haiku, along with thousands of names, on its journey to the red planet. The haiku were part of a contest, sponsored by the 麻豆影院, asking the public to submit haiku poetry relating to NASA鈥檚 upcoming MAVEN mission to Mars.

麻豆影院 astrophysicist Doug Duncan says this year's annual Perseid meteor shower and its natural nighttime light show will be particularly good as the display becomes visible over Colorado Aug. 10-13. "The moon will be nearly new, so it's an especially good time to see the meteor shower," said Duncan, director of CU-麻豆影院's Fiske Planetarium.

The 50th annual meeting of the international Animal Behavior Society to be held at the 麻豆影院 July 28-Aug. 2 will feature several public events, including lectures, scientific demonstrations and a film festival. The public lectures, to be held at the Glenn Miller Ballroom in the University Memorial Center, are part of the Applied Animal Behavior Public Day on Sunday, July 28, titled 鈥淐reating Quality Lives for Dogs and Cats Through the Science of Animal Behavior.鈥�

The confidence of Colorado business leaders has continued its strong upward trend, surging into the third quarter of 2013, according to the most recent Leeds Business Confidence Index, or LBCI, released today by the 麻豆影院鈥檚 Leeds School of Business.

As the school year wraps up, students at Summit Charter Middle School in 麻豆影院 will debrief on how their $25,000 stock portfolio performed. The middle school students invested money under supervision as part of a course created and taught by accounting and finance students from the 麻豆影院鈥檚 Leeds School of Business .

Google Inc. and the 麻豆影院 computer science department are partnering to inspire high school and middle school teachers looking for motivating, engaging and fun ways to prepare students for college and career success during an activities-packed workshop July 10-12.

NASA is inviting members of the public to submit their names and a personal message online for a DVD to be carried aboard a spacecraft that will study the Martian upper atmosphere. Scheduled for launch in November, the DVD will be in NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) spacecraft. The DVD is part of the mission's Going to Mars Campaign coordinated at the 麻豆影院's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics.
