International Publishing Executive To Speak At CU-Â鶹ӰԺ's MBA Graduation

Dick Engebretson, executive vice president of dmg world media, an international exhibition and publishing company, will speak at the 2003 CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Leeds School of Business MBA recognition ceremony on May 9. The graduation ceremony will be held in Macky Auditorium at 5 p.m. Engebretson received his MBA from the CU-Â鶹ӰԺ business school in 1972. In 1984, he launched a trade exhibition company, TSI Productions, which he sold to dmg world media in 2001. Upon selling TSI Productions, Engebretson assumed his current position.

Recycling Saves CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Up To $235,000 Annually, Report Says

A study of the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ's recycling program shows that it would cost the campus up to $235,000 more per year to dispose of recyclable materials as solid waste. CU-Â鶹ӰԺ's recycling efforts have been nationally recognized for many years, and the study confirms the recycling program has "led to business decisions that are not only good for the environment, but also financially beneficial to the campus," according to the 82-page document.

Water Main Break Forces Cancellation Of Events At CU's Fiske Planetarium

The Fiske Planetarium at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ will be closed until further notice due to a water main break early the morning of May 1. Closure is expected to last several weeks. All events, public and private, have been cancelled, including public school shows, university events, laser shows and prerecorded planetarium shows. The closure will not affect the May 15 lunar eclipse viewing, which takes place outside the planetarium.

Total Eclipse Of The Moon To Be Visible Over Colorado May 15

The moon over Colorado will appear eerily orange in the night sky during a total lunar eclipse on Thursday, May 15, according to experts at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ's Sommers-Bausch Observatory and Fiske Planetarium. Sommers-Bausch Observatory at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ will be open to the public from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for eclipse viewing. Visitors also will be able to view the eclipse from the west side of the planetarium, where binoculars and telescopes will be available. There is no charge to visit the planetarium and the observatory to view the eclipse.

CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Student To Graduate After One Year In College

When Alexander Oshmyansky arrived at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ fresh out of high school in fall 2002, he had a surprise for his classmates - he planned to graduate in the spring. After spending less than a year at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ, Oshmyansky will indeed graduate in the spring, when on May 9, just months after his 18th birthday, he will receive his bachelor's degree in biochemistry.

CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Mural Project To Build Community And Relieve Stress During Finals

The mural will be painted in the food court of the University Memorial Center on the CU-Â鶹ӰԺ campus. The University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ is offering students a different approach to relieving stress during finals week this year. Students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to contribute to a mural painted by a national artist. Painting began April 30 and will be completed by May 9.

James Randi To Lecture At CU-Â鶹ӰԺ on May 21

James Randi, internationally recognized investigator of paranormal and pseudoscientific claims, will give a free, public lecture at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ on May 21. Randi will speak on "Search for the Chimera: An Overview of How Science Has Pursued Magic and Miracles in the 20th Century and Into the 21st Century" at 7:30 p.m. in Macky Auditorium. His lecture is intended for a general audience and no reservations are required.
