Overview
The process of learning principles of physics and conducting experiments in the field requires the use of conventional and custom equipment and machinery. Undergraduate and graduate students alike gain an incredible learning experience from crafting the very tools they will use in the future. Luckily, the Department of Physics鈥攁nd other collaborations across campus鈥攐ffer facilities and training for students who wish to undertake these pursuits.
Trades Teaching Lab
罢丑别听Physics Trades Teaching Lab听offers students the opportunity to learn hands-on, practical techniques for operating machinery in the machine shop. Upon certification, students are authorized to use the machine shop for creating equipment and tools for personal and educational purposes. Students who wish to fabricate items in the machine shop are advised to take the safety courses provided by this Lab.
Colorado Shared Instrumentation in Nanofabrication and Characterization (COSINC)
The Colorado Shared Instrumentation in Nanofabrication and Characterization (COSINC) is a multidisciplinary core research facility and service center, within the College of Engineering and Applied Science, that provides access to state-of-the-art equipment in the areas of micro and nanofabrication, nanomaterials characterization and metrology and offers expertise and advanced hands-on training in the same related areas. It is an open-research facility serving the academic, industrial and governmental researchers across campus and beyond. The facility offers a common platform for the convergence of multiple scientific and engineering disciplines and facilitates collaborative research with strategic partners and information exchange.
