The graduate studies program of the Department of Physics is intended for students pursuing a Ph.D degree in Physics. This involves approximately two years of coursework followed by four years of research, culminating in a dissertation documenting independent, original research. In addition to a Ph.D. in Physics, the department participates in several interdisciplinary programs: Chemical Physics Ph.D. Program, Geophysics Ph.D. Program, , and Applied Physics Certificate program.
