Master Agreements may be developed for either research (MRA) or services (MSA) in which a sponsor expects to fund multiple projects with CU �鶹ӰԺ over a period of time. These agreements embody agreed-upon terms and conditions of a basic contractual relationship between CU �鶹ӰԺ and an industry sponsor. These agreements are intended to result in increased efficiency in proposal processing, project award, negotiation, and post-award administration for departments and institutes.

Once a master agreement is in place, an addendum or task order is created for each new project to be awarded under the master agreement. An addendum/task order frequently contains the following for each specific project:

• Scope of work to be conducted and associated budget
• Payment obligations and timing
• Management of the project
• Staffing of the project
• Schedules, milestones, and deliverables
• Co-funding information (if any)
• Background intellectual property information (if any)
• Licensing options and considerations

CU �鶹ӰԺ is concentrating efforts to establish master agreements with a variety of partners to help expedite the initiation and funding of research, student and student projects.

Developing New Master Agreements

Industry sponsors that desire a master agreement or who are potential candidates for a master agreement with CU �鶹ӰԺ should contact Industry & Foundation Relations or the National Security Initiative. IFR and NSI can help researchers facilitate establishing a new industry partnership and connect companies to the services, expertise and capabilities available at CU �鶹ӰԺ.
