Foreign Nationals
Most sponsored projects that CU Â鶹ӰԺ performs are fundamental research in accordance with our mission and status as a public institution of higher education and nonprofit. There are no restrictions on participation by foreign nationals in fundamental research.
CU Â鶹ӰԺ also performs restricted research in certain circumstances. The Office of Contracts and Grants works with sponsors to remove restrictions as much as possible. However, when removal is not possible, there may be restrictions on the participation of foreign nationals in a particular sponsored project, typically due to national security requirements of the funding agency.
Restricted research at CU Â鶹ӰԺ is only carried out in accordance with the policy onÌýRestricted, Proprietary, and Classified Research. This policy requires Principal Investigators and departments to document a clear and compelling justification for the restrictions, and provide a plan to protect any students, postdocs, or nontenured faculty members on the project.
