There are multiple sources of funding for law student eventsԻtravel. Funding can be provided to an individual or to a student group traveling to a conference. Students should explore all of the different sources.
Travel for a class (e.g., seminar trip) should be approached through a coordinated request on behalf of the whole class to the Student Fee Committee. It is best to start the process at least six weeks prior to the date of travel.
Student groups planning events that qualify for SBA funding should seek SBA funding before making a request for funding from the Student Fee Committee (SFC). Students are encouraged to inquire with CSI and GPSG before requesting funding from SFC.

Center for Student Involvement (CSI)
CSI essentially functions as the “bank” for student groups. Most spending from CSI accounts is in the form of reimbursements. Each student group can designate up to three “signers” who can deposit money into the student group account or approve reimbursements. The offers additional information, including links to schedule meetings with CSI staff. As of August 2022, Austin Lujan is the CSI liaison for law student groups.
Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) Student Group Grants
is the primary advocacy group for graduate and professional students on the CU-鶹ӰԺ campus. GPSG is a possible source of funding for conference travel and bringing speakers to campus.
GPSG offers both event grants and outreach grants. Event grants fund events that advance and enrich the graduate student experience at CU. Outreach grants engage the greater community. Each year grants open at the beginning of each semester. It is important to plan ahead to ensure that you don’t miss the application window. Policies and procedures and examples of past events can be found here.
Student Organization Allocations Committee (SOAC)
The Student Organization Allocations Committee (SOAC) is a CUSG funding board that distributes student fee dollars to student organizations in order to help promote enrichment, education, and inclusiveness of the CU 鶹ӰԺ community. SOAC makes decisions from a neutral viewpoint by understanding that everyone needs that place to feel included.
