Jan 7: ISSS Live Virtual Sessions for New Students in F-1 and J-1 Status

For new students in F-1 and J-1 status beginning their program at CU Â鶹ӰԺ in Spring 2022, please see below for information about the virtual sessions that will be hosted by ISSS on Friday, January 7, 2022.

ISSS Live Virtual Sessions, Friday, January 7, 2022

  • 1 to 1:30 p.m. -  (OPTIONAL) 
    • Please join us virtually to get to know some ISSS staff members and advisors. We are eager to meet you and hope you will take this time to get to know a little more about our office and how we serve international students. 
  • 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. -  (REQUIRED) 
    • This is a mandatory virtual session for all new international students to learn about the U.S. academic culture  
  • 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. -  (OPTIONAL) 
    • If you have not yet completed the required Immigration Check-in Form, please attend this virtual session for a presentation on how to complete the form   
  • 3:15 to 4 p.m. -  (OPTIONAL) 
    • Please join us virtually to ask any questions you may have about maintaining your F-1 status. 

EXCHANGE STUDENTS in J-1 STATUS ONLY

Exchange students may attend the above optional sessions and are REQUIRED to attend the following:

  • 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. -  (REQUIRED) 
    • This is a mandatory virtual session for all new international students to learn about the U.S. academic culture
       
  • 3:15 to 4 p.m. - (REQUIRED) 
    • Please join Kim Schorr virtually to ask any questions you may have about maintaining your J-1 status and all questions regarding your exchange program.

SPONSORED STUDENTS ONLY

Students that are, or plan to be sponsored by Aramco, KAUST Gifted Student Program (KGSP), Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM), Kuwait Cultural Office (KCO), Embassy of Oman, SABIC, or the Scholarships Office of the UAE (SCO) are REQUIRED to attend the following events on Friday, January 7, 2022: 

  • 3:15 to 4 p.m. -  (REQUIRED) 
    • Mandatory session about how to maintain your scholarship AND your immigration status. Ask any questions you may have about the Immigration Essentials Session, maintaining your F-1 status, or sponsorship. 
  • 4 to 5 p.m. -  (REQUIRED) 
    • Mandatory session for completing the FERPA release for your sponsor through your Buff Portal. Sponsored Student Advisors will be available to provide one-on-one assistance completing the release.
