ISGW 2024 Early Registration and ISCEP Scholarship Applications

Students who need a visa to travel to the United States may choose to apply for early registration or to apply for the International Scholars Culture Exchange Program scholarship.

Early registration application

Students who are traveling under may apply for early registration. Once we have verified that you will require a visa, we will send you an invitation for early registration at the reduced rate of $200. Invitations will go out in June. If you do not have a visa by January 1, 2024, then your registration will be canceled.

The early registration application deadline is June 12, 2023, 11:59pm MDT (GMT-6).

You should apply for early registration if the following apply to you:

  • The United States requires a visa for people traveling under your country of origin's passport
  • You do have funds to pay for travel and lodging to attend the ISG Workshop
  • You will need extra time to get a visa for travel to the United States

You should not apply for early registration if any of the following apply:

  • You will already be in the United States in March, 2024, for example as a student at a US based university
  • You are traveling under a passport from a country that is part of the
  • You do not have funds to attend the ISG Workshop (instead, apply for the ISCEP scholarship)

ISCEP scholarship application

International students who do not have funds to cover their travel and lodging for the ISG Workshop should apply for the ISCEP scholarship. The scholarship will cover all expenses for traveling and attending the ISG Workshop, plus after the ISG Workshop will provide for additional time to stay and work with faculty and students at IBG for one or two weeks. Two or three scholarship recipients will be chosen from qualifying applications.

The ISCEP scholarship application deadline is June 12, 2023, 11:59pm MDT (GMT-6).

You should apply for the ISCEP scholarship if you meet the following qualifications:

  • You do not have any other source of funding to attend the ISG Workshop
  • You are a citizen of a low or middle income country
  • You are studying human genetics, and will benefit from learning the topics to be covered at the 2024 ISG Workshop (latent variable genetic models)

You should not apply for the ISCEP scholarship if any of the following apply:

  • You are a citizen of the United States (other scholarship opportunities for US citizens will be available during general registration in late October, 2023)
  • Your home institution is able to fund your travel and expenses
  • Your primary interests are in non-human genetics, molecular genetics, measured genetics, or other topics not covered in the 2024 ISG Workshop
