As a Faculty Director in the Office of Faculty Affairs, Patrick Ferrucci supports faculty and academic leaders in developing and revising policies and guidelines, develops policy toolkits, and provides individual consultations for faculty members with questions and concerns about university processes.听
Pat is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Journalism. His research is in media sociology and primarily concerns itself with how shifting notions of 鈥渙rganization鈥 in journalism lead to influence on journalism practice. Specifically, his work examines organization-level variables鈥 impact on message construction. He is particularly interested in how various market models of journalism affect news production processes. Prior to the University of Colorado, he taught classes at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois; the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri; and Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut.听
He holds an undergraduate degree in sociology from Providence College, a master鈥檚 in journalism from Emerson College, and a PhD with a focus in journalism studies/media sociology from the University of Missouri鈥檚 School of Journalism. When he was a journalist, Pat spent roughly nine years covering predominantly rock music for various media. Because of the job and his life-long love of music, Pat鈥檚 attended more than 2,000 concerts, a number he enjoys adding to.
