CU 麻豆影院's new STEM Education certificate offers STEM majors an opportunity to teach science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts in local schools while developing the skills to more effectively communicate STEM topics. 鈥淣ot only do education courses help me teach the material and engage students, I feel I have become a better student myself," said Kelsey Sheehan, certificate student.

The CU 麻豆影院 Alumni Association honored Bethy Leonardi (PhD EFPP 鈥�14) and Sara Staley (PhD C&I Literacy 鈥�14), School of Education research associates and co-founders of A Queer Endeavor, with the 2018 Kalpana Chawla Award at the October annual awards ceremony, one of CU 麻豆影院's oldest traditions.

A collaboration between the 麻豆影院 School of Education and Northeast Colorado Board of Cooperative Educational Services has received a new grant from the Colorado Department of Higher Education that bolsters collaborative efforts to create a more sustainable teacher force in Northeast Colorado.

The annual School of Education Scholarship Awards Ceremony united and honored more than 136 scholarship and fellowship recipients and supporters on Thursday, Oct. 18.

The American Physical Society, a "leading voice in physics,鈥� will honor CU 麻豆影院 scientists and educators as part of its spring 2019 awards. The Excellence in Physics Education Award will recognize an interdisciplinary CU 麻豆影院 team for their work with the Colorado Learning Assistant Program and the Learning Assistance Alliance, an international initiative based in the School of Education. Congrats to Valerie Otero, Laurie Langdon, and team.

Susan Jurow, associate professor of learning sciences and human development, was recently honored with the Provost鈥檚 Faculty Achievement Award for her contributions to learning in the food movement and her work focused on the organization of learning, participation, knowledge production, and social practices.

Colorado high school students interested in becoming teachers and community leaders can earn guaranteed admissions to the CU 麻豆影院 School of Education thanks to a new agreement between CU 麻豆影院 and two high school concurrent enrollment programs, Teacher Cadet and Pathways2Teaching庐 programs. The admission agreement comes at a critical time as Colorado and the nation face significant teacher shortages.
